CARB Regulation

PGW Product

Windshields:

Starting with 2012MY, 25% of the projected vehicle sales in California must have a windshield with Tts ≤ 50%. The volume goes to 50% for 2013MY and 100% with 2014MY.

PGW’s Sungate Infra-Red Reflective windshield easily meets this requirement. The Sungate windshield technology has been in production for many years and PGW has sold millions of windshields using the Sungate technology.

Side and Rear Vision Glass

(Light Transmission ≥ 70%)

Starting with 2012MY all vision glass must have the Tts as defined below:

 Tts ≤ 60%, for glass thickness  ≥ 4mm

Tts ≤ -4.9 * d +  80%, for glass thickness (d) < 4 mm

PGW’s Solargreen glass will meet the regulations at all glass thicknesses. PGW’s Solargreen glass is a high solar absorbing glass that has been commercial for many years and is already being used by most of our customers.

Side and Rear Privacy Glass

(Light Transmission < 70%)

Starting with 2012MY all pirvacy glass must have the Tts as defined below:

 Tts ≤ 40%, for glass thickness  ≥ 4mm

Tts ≤ -6.5 * d +  66%, for glass thickness (d) < 4 mm

PGW’s  GL-20 privacy glass will meet the regulations at all glass thicknesses. PGW’s GL-20 glass is a very highly absorbing glass that has been commercial for many years and is already being used by most of our customers.

Roof Glass

Starting with the 2012MY, all vehicles that have roof glazing must use glass with Tts as defined below:

Tts ≤ 30% for glass thickness ≥ 4mm

Tts ≤ -7.0 * d + 58%, for glass thickness (d) < 4 mm

PGW has several products that meet this regulation. The Sungate IR Reflective roof glazing provides superior solar performance while allowing great flexibility in managing visible light.

PGW’s new Roof Glass for tempered applications also meets the regulations while enabling a drop-in replacement of current roof glass.

2016 Model Year and Beyond:

All glass in vehicles must have Tts ≤ 40%, or meet an alternate performance equivalence as determined by CARB

PGW’s Sungate EP will fully meet this requirement. This product has been tested on several vehicles and is ready for commercial use by our customers.
